FOREWORD Through the kindness of the Walt Disney Studios we have been permitted to use their characters in our 1957 annual. For this we extend our sincere thanks. Since yearbooks record the history of the students you may see a similarity between yourself and one of these famous animals at some stage of your school career. We have depicted the mischievous, athletic, learned, lazy and studious; the good, the bad and the indifferent. If you find some character that reminds you of yourself-- re-member--it was purely intentional on our part. DEDICATION Mr. GILBERT MUNZ Mr. Massing came to East High in 1947 and has carved a firm place in the hearts of both teachers and students. His good humor, earnestness, and sincere interest in all places him high on everyone's list. He lives outside the city with his attractive wife and three real American boys, where he holds as prominent a place in his community as he does at East High. Mr. Munz . . . Gil to everybody ... ex football coach, J.V. basketball coach, varsity baseball coach, (lunch period supervisor,) Physics teacher, photographer, and friend of everyone who knows him. Gil lives close to school with his very pleasant wife, attractive daughter and chip off the old block Gil, Junior. A good teacher has the respect of his students and in return is a source of help, friendship, and guidance, to the student. We have faith that every boy and girl who comes under the influence of these two men will be better citizens for having had this experience. 3 PRESENTING • • • FOREWORD................... 1 DEDICATION 3 ADMINISTRATION AND FACULTY 5 ACKNOWLEDGMENTS 12 SENIORS 13 MUSIC 41 ORGANIZATIONS 48 HONORS 58 ATHLETICS 63 UNDERGRADS 80 SCHOOL DAZE 95 PRINCIPAL We, the seniors of East High, wish to acknowledge our respect and appreciation to our principal, Harold D. However, the manpower during the '56 season was less than that of '46. Coach Detzel states that the players were gentlemen at all times and their actions were a credit to the school. All in all the season was a success. It had It's high spots as well as it's bad ones.
