V 'A w I Nl su FQREWCRD Our high school years have been spent almost entirely during a time in which our country has been engaged in a war. We have learned to realize the privilege of receiving a democratic American education, while men and women all over the world are sac- rificing all that is most dear to them in order that future generations may continue in the way of life which is our most precious heritage. We seniors are now leaving to take a more active part in helping to preserve that heritage. We enter upon this task with seriousness and pur- pose, confident that our school has given us the foundation to meet this responsibility. Until that time of final victory, when many of the graduates of this class and other classes return from the battle fronts, we trust that you who remain behind us here at East will carry the colors of Scarlet and Gray high, and keep the traditions which we have tried to uphold. Trusting in God, we Seniors hope that by the time another annual bearing the warrior emblem and the title Sunrise is published the world will again be at peace.
