We are proud of you and your accomplishment, and it has been a real pleasure to know and work with you. lt is our hope that the experiences and knowledge you have gained at East will contribute considerably toward success in your chosen field of endeavor. Good scholarship, citizenship, sportsmanship and lasting tra- ditions are paramount to any high school. You have helped this school become more endowed with such high ideals. I encourage the underclassmen who return to East for one, two or three years, to work hard, play hard and enioy your remaining years in school. They will be re- membered among your most enioyable. lt is essential we all strive to make our school one which we can always think of with pride. Dwight Scheyer 'T' 4 . With the third year of East's existence rapidly coming to a close l find it interesting to pause and consider what we have accomplished since September of l956. We have graduated 284 seniors, we have developed more than our share of outstanding scholars, we have turned out rapidly improving musical organizations and athletic teams, other student groups have contrib- uted to the community. This accomplishment can be attributed to three things. First, our administration has been consistently improving and expanding the curricu- lum. Secondly, we have a faculty second to none, and finally, an enormous amount of the credit must go to the spirit of the students themselves. East l-ligh came into existence with fine student spirit. Amazingly this spirit has not decreased. These are the things that make East High an educational success. Tom Guerin Principal Vice Principal Lillian Green Anne Carter 8. Sev- eral school government exchanges were also held. 1958-59 was a good year for the ASB,- a year of new ideas and a year of spirit contributing much to the school life of East's 700 students. Secretary, Barbara Larson Treasurer, Judy Jackson f-4. S. Z. The program in i959 of the ASB officers concerned itself with four main points. These were, community aids, social events tor the entire student body, financial solvency in the area of school activities and expansion of the spirit and personality that is East. The ASB card sales i9O'X:l, homecoming activities, and the Thanksgiving and Christmas drives all fell under ASB determination. The continuing crusade to secure an armor mascot caught school imagination and the program was put into effect with that ultimate objective. The usual theme, Knights to Remember, was elaborately car- ried out in the decor of the gym by decoration chair- man, Karen Jacobsen. Our master of ceremonies was Pat Halstead, Penny Monaghan took charge of the os- sembly plan and Melanie Harrell was responsible for the programs. Serving as guards were members of the Lettermen's Club. The Knightones and Knightlites en- tertained the court with musical selections. That evening a dance was held in honor ot Queen Carole in the East High Catetorium. Anita Chopp was in charge of this.
