Class of 1949: Although I shall not be with you after January 21, 1949, I wish to tell you how much I have enjoyed knowing you through your sophomore and junior years and through half of your senior year. You have been friendly and faithful students ever since I have known you and it is with regret that I have decided not to stay with you through your graduation. I am sure that your new principal will have fine things to say about you in June and that you will feel that he has indeed been your friend and counselor. For your life after graduation I am truly solicitous. I would like to repeat to you the closing words of my message to the Class of 1940 with which I became associated in April of that year. I said: nMay life bring you countless blessings. May your destiny so fashion itself that you will be able to hold fast to your ideals and to guard your soulfs integrity. Without falling victims to educa- tional snobbery may you learn to appreciate the true spirit of noblesse oblige. I wish you wealth and high honor. I Eespeak for you happiness and contentment. May your hearts be clean: may your dreams come true.U W M03 ' Henry J. Winters A Former Principal

Miss SARAH M. OSBORN Miss Sarah M. Osborn, an alumna of Pembroke College and teacher of Latin for forty-four years in Pawtucket, retired in june. Miss Osborn is so shy and unassum- ing that few really know her well. How- ever, those fortunate few treasure greatly her gentleness, kindness, understanding, and delightfully keen wit. She is outstand- ing in her lield. Reports of her pupils studying at college testify to the excellent background received in her classes. The faculty, administrative staff, and students of East High School extend to Miss Osborn their very best wishes for continued health and happiness. Aequo auimo quad semper Semper felix, .temper fdelis Sem in -aelum redeem. Miss EDITH D. DAVISON Miss Edith D. Davison rctircd in june after forty-six years as a teacher in the schools of Pawtucket. ,After her gradua- tion from Pembroke College in 1900, she began her career in the elementary schools and taught in the grades for twenty-five years, most of which were under Mr. Henry J. Winters. For the past twenty-one years she was teacher of geometry at East Senior High School. The countless students who were fortunate enough to receive her in- struction acquired a sound preparation for the study of higher mathematics. Miss Davison justly deserves the high-praise and deep appreciation so sincerely voiced by all her students.
