Soon we will no longer be a part of daily high school life that we have grown so accustomed to these past three years. Days when someone else planned our time for us are to be no more. The direction of our lives will be our decision alone. In the beginning we were not yet aware of the satisfaction that our efforts to attain knowledge may provide for us. Each of us has at some tithe turned away from studies in apathy or discouragement. It soon became evident that our studies would provide rewards and personal satisfaction. Then we found ourselves turning back to them once more, this time without drudgery. We even found ourselves performing with a will. Close friendships became meaningful through good times together and secrets shared. Will we cease to matter to one another as we go our separate ways? As we leave we will be, for a time, relieved. Then we must cope with a world in which the shape of our lives is still uncertain. We have had an opportunity to prepare ourselves for the future. The opportunity has been provided by East High. We found great opportunity at East from an academic standpoint. East offered us a variety of courses to allow for our individual interests. The curriculum was designed to give us a well-rounded education. At East High, we had an opportunity to attain a high degree of education, and an educated person is usually a successful person. East lacked little in the way of bringing people together. This gave us an opportunity to become socially aware of others. There were clubs for everyone, whatever his interests may have been. Activities, dances, athletic events, school plays — were many. At East we learned about people, to respect others 9 feelings, and how to get along with those around us every day. East High, with its opportunities— both academic and social — has allowed us to grad- uate as people who are able to lead productive and meaningful lives u for the service of humanity.
