Foreign Language Students Increase Use Of Language Lab Students this year have had a varied selection of foreign languages from which to choose. The Foreign Language Department has courses in four languages: French, Latin, German, and Spanish. Mr. Pratt, who teaches Spanish, is a new addition to the staff. helps Bobbie Fulk with The language lab, located on the third floor, has been used more frequently this year than any other. There students listen to tapes to learn correct pro- nunciation and usage. All of the language classes sponsor extra-curricular clubs. English Miss Arnold Mr. Christian Mr. Dolan Mrs. Dowd Mr. Forker Mr. Heckel Speech Two Courses Added Debate and extemporaneous speaking were the class activities of the twenty students enrolled in Forensics. Miss Whitford explained that methods of reasoning were stressed — if a student makes a statement he should be able to back it up and prove it. Social Communications, a fused two-hour course in English and Social Science, is taught by Mr. Wright (English) and Mr. Gewerth (Social Studies). Science . . . Connie Fulk and Mr. Johns ' s first-h m Kuder carefully conduct an experiment in chemistry class. Mr. Hand Mr. Johns Mr. Dick Johnson High Rating Given By NCA! This year an independent study program was added to the science curriculum. At the be- ginning of the year the students decided what they would like to study, then during the year they conducted projects and completed reports. Before a student can enter this course he must be interested in science and have recommendations from other teachers. The North Central Association evaluating team gave a high rat- ing to the Science Department this year as well as to other de- partments. Mr. Peterson Mr. Sloan Mr. Sloan explains how to operate the miscroscope to Wanda Berndt, Conrad Taylor, and Cindy Boatwright.
