This year the science department was greatly improved by the remodeling of the old biology rooms. This includes new desks, new blackboards and more space for lab work. The physics lab also was remodeled. East students are very proud of those ad- vancements. Donna Toigo and Steve Cox apply their knowledge of the slide rule. Textbooks with a modern math method of teaching are in their second year of use at East. Algebra 1 and 2, geometry, Fundamentals of College Math, Probability and Statistics (Math 9 and 10) all are offered in the advanced program. A fairly new pre-college course, Math 9 and 10 deals with the structure of mathematics itself. The main goal of these courses is to discover what math really is.
