They Are Friends Indeed MR. PHILLIP COOPER, Vice-Principal A very capable leader, Mr. Phillip Cooper con- tinues to fill the posiLions of vice-principal and boys ' adviser. With the many responsibilities as- signed him, Mr. Cooper is kept busy every min- ute of the school day. Being in charge of some 900 boys, he must execute a patient hand in deal- ing with various daily problems. In addition, Mr. Cooper has to be in constant touch with Mr. Jackson concerning other affairs in the school. This is Mr. Cooper ' s third year at East, and each year he has enjoyed working with the stu- dents more. Miss Florence Nelson, East High ' s girls ad- viser, is a very capable administrator. She is constantly busy with the problems of the weaker sex. Trying to keep the female population at peace and trouble free is a hard task, but Miss Nelson goes about her duties with a smile and is always willing to lend a helping hand. Besides her regular duties, she supervises East ' s social life and senior activities. East High School is very proud to have so dedi- cated an individual as girls adviser. Meet Our New Principal MR. JACKSON, Principal East High welcomed a new principal to its halls this year. He is Gareld L. Jackson, graduate of State College of Iowa. He received his master ' s degree at Columbia University and is presently study- ing for his doctor ' s degree. He hopes to complete his work this summer. Mr. Jackson has many responsibilities. He must lead the faculty of some 70 members, and guide 1800 students. Besides major problems he must solve, the many little things that arise each day are always time consuming. Mr. Jackson has entered right into the activities of East High. He has many ideas and dreams for our school. Impressed with the spirit found at East, he considers it a great opportunity to work with the students, and they with him.
