A 1900 PRIlHPAL Miss May Goodrell held the position ot principal from 1900 to 1918. The laying of the cornerstone tor the present East High School, which took place in 1911, marked a memorable event in the history of East High. HIGH 19 4 Mr. D. Q, Williams became principal at East High School in the tall of 1954 and is our present principal, Mr. Williams, known as Duke by most of the students, faculty, and alumni, was previously the boys' adviser. Mr, O. G. Prichard was principal from 1934 to 1954, One of the highlights ot his twenty years ot dedicated service to East High was the completion of the plans for the new ad- dition and construction of the stadium. NOTE: Not all Quill advisers and principals are included because of lack of space.

Q ILL HIGH ADVISERS Mary Estelle Patterson was the faculty ad- viser for the first edition of the Quill, which came out in l905. The early Quills were semi- monthly literary issues very different from our present-day serni-annual editions. Mr, George Christian became the Quill faculty adviser in l953. Quill editing rnethods have changed greatly since the first edition in l905, with more emphasis placed upon pictorial images rather than word pictures. Mr. Kenneth Stratton, present faculty ad- viser for the East High Scroll, was the Quill adviser from i930 to l953. lt was during this period that the Quill was changed from a literary edition to its present yearbook form.
