NURSE l-lELPERS AND SCI-IOGI. MESSENGER Every student who has been in the nurse's office knows of the group of helpful girls who work there. The l849'ers, doubtless, needed many women to help care for the countless injuries and sicknesses contracted in the long journeys to California. So it is in East. Many slight injuries are received by pupils, and these girls do their part by helping keep up the books and other such things. They are to be commended for their good work. The school messenger, Harold Winterbottom, runs er- rands down town. STAGE HANDS AND MOVIE l-lELPERS Hats off to the back-stage hands! We all know the important part these boys play in 'taking care of the lights and other such things in assemblies. They deserve our appreciation. The movie-helpers are important also. The 49'ers had few entertainments, but we are supplied with plenty of fun in our noon hour by these capable boys. We are all familiar with the girls who tire- lessly and patiently stand behind the cash registers and candy counters to do their bit of service for us.
