LIBRARIANS The library staff was chosen by the teachers from a select list. Their job is to help in the library and the book rooms, and to keep the rooms in order. They are always willing to help in every way possible. These helpers are able to keep up their efficient work, under the direction of Miss Carrie Larson, who is East High's head librarian. CLERICAL STAFF This group is selected from the different stenographic classes and from the study halls. Their duties are to receive and deliver calls, take dictation, and do other necessary jobs. They work in the offices of Mr. Prichard, Mr. Williams, Miss Helmreich, and also in the main office. Soon some of these students will have good stenographic jobs, and the experi- ence they receive here will be very useful to them. ' COUNCIL CADETS The Student Council, one of the most im- portant organizations of our school, forms committees to keep East High busy with ac- tivity. Each home room elects a representa- tive and these representatives choose the coun- cil officers. This year Bill Jensen was chosen president, and he was ably assisted by Dick Phipps, vice-president, and Johnny McClin- tock, secretary. Under the sponsorship of Miss Agnes Helmreich, the council had a very successful year, These student cadet teachers were chosen from a select list by Mr. D. O. Wilson for their ability, personality, and intelligence. Their job is to fill in for an absent teacher at the various schools, and to take over the class. Each student selects a subject which he thinks he is capable of teaching. Not all of this group will get a chance to practice their abili- ties, but those who do will profit by the experience. THE DIVINE FLORAH The 49'ers enjoyed entertainment just as we do today. Much ot this entertainment is provided us by the school play. The play this year, The Divine Flora, was a comedy in three acts. The students, who were chosen tor their acting ability, put in a lot ot work in turning out an excellent play. The play was about a rich unattractive girl, who changed to become a popular, at- tractive person. East High is fortunate in having such a capable director as Mrs. Laser. A CAPPELLA CHOIR The a cappella choir is East High's most highly skilled group ot singers. Miss Sigrid Greenhill is the person responsible for training such an outstanding group, and everyone ap- preciates the programs put on by them. Be- cause ot their tine singing, much is added to our Christmas Nativity program, where sing- ing is needed to add beauty and musical color. Some ot the other important programs that were given by the choir during the Christmas season were assemblies at Woodrow Wilson, and singing at the Rotary club.
