DANCE BAND Front Row SENDERS For many years East H1gh has been proud that 1t has been able to ma1nta1n a full t1me soclal orchestra Thls season our ten PIGCS band under the superv1s1on of Mr lohn Mc Whxrter has upheld 1ts part rn the recreatronal act1v1t1es of the school The extravaganza the school dances and many of our assembhes were br1ghtened greatly by the work of th1s organlzatlon In return for the1r performances and the1r long hours of tedlous rehearsals Corw1n Champ the d1rector and the other members of the orchestra rece1ve a small strpend for play1ng at school dances and are supphed w1th all the mus1c they need HIGH LIGHT One of East H1gh Schools rnost lrnportant occaslons IS the Extravaganza a project wh1ch the ent1re school has a chance to part1c1pate Th1s year the annual pro grarn presented November Zlst and 22nd 1n the school audltonum Our two hour show headed by George Lundberg as M C featured a large var1ety of talent 1nclud1ng Iack1e Hayes and Betty Layman 1n specral dance numbers Charles Ladd the campus cut up Hal and many other splend1d acts too numerous to men t1on The swmg band and the dance l1ne as always contr1buted generously to the success of the show and the mus1c department also furmshed many l1ne numbers The theme of the show portrayed Carveth college whose students were try1ng to axd 1ts hnances Those who appeared on the stage were not the only persons responslble for the success of the show The dlrectors M1ss Spencer and Mlss Engleen spent many hours 1n tryouts rehears als and the arrangement of th1s years enter ta1nment The stage hands and electrxclans the costume g1rls the wardrobe staff the art department the faculty and the student coun cxl all helped 1n the1r own ways to make the show a success Ill All cn .
