MR WILLIAM C. WOLGAST Ska 7 rinciloa A eadage . . Greetings to the Class of 1945: We congratulate you on the successful completion of your high school course and we extend our best wishes to you in your future plans. You entered high school in September, 1941, and in December the treachery of Pearl Harbor occurred. Following that came the feverish preparation of this country to produce munitions and the organization of a large fighting force. The results of those efforts are apparent in our War effort to an astounding degree. During your high school course much of your thought and energy have gone to aiding this undertaking. That you have persevered in your high school course when for nearly four years the nation has been busy with a global War is deserving of high praise. The war is not yet ended but our hopes are high for its termination in the near future. Many members of your class have already entered the armed services and others will be entering after graduation. To them We are grateful beyond Words for the part they are taking in this catastrophe of our times. We begin to look forward to a time of peace that will be worthy of the sacrifices that have been made. We hope and pray that our thoughts and actions then will match those shown in the prosecution of the War, and that a genuine desire to bring about greater democracy for all peoples will really follow. To lessen race prejudice, to bring about more tolerance, to gain greater economic security for all people, to achieve the blessings of freedom-to help bring about flame conditions of peace is my charge to the Class of 1945. 9
