THE SENIOR CLASS IN RICTROSPECT As we turn the last page of our history at East High, let us rexninisce upon the carefree days spent within her walls. Do you remember us as shy, withering freshmen with wide eyes and open mouths? The first year brought a rush of intriguing events and activities hampered only by never- ending homework. Eagerly we devoured Ivanhoe, night football, a-I-b:c, track meets, and matter can neither be created nor destroyed. Due to an emergency, part of the class went to the Annex as usual while the remainder was interned at the main building. Sophomore year united us: and, under the leadership of Miss Anne lzzo and Mr. Paul Peterson, we elected class olhcers. June Howorth, President, Richard Judge, Vice-President, lVIarcia McKee, Treasurer, Lillian Silinis, Secretary, and Arthur Agnello, Social Chairman, were chosen. During our second year two dances were held, both successful. Junior yearfat last we were upper classmenl Our faces now wore the rapt expressions of the learned, as we tried to appear wordly. Mr. Edward Welch stepped readily into place as our new advisor when lVIr. Peterson left to serve in the U. S. Navy. The elected oflicers for the third year were Richard Judge, President, Charles DeCarlo,Vice-President, Carl Montione, Treasurer, Dolores Figueras, Secretary, and Chris Williams, Social Chairman. The highlight of the year was the class party held in the 4'l3allroom.l' Our final year found us anticipating the responsibilities for which We had prepared our- selves. VVith Harvard VVilliamson as President: Joe O'Keefe, Vice-President: Marion Ayer, Treasurer, Nancy Lee, Secretary, and Phyllis lVIcTaggart, Social Chairman, we undertook the duties of a senior class. The first event of the year, a Christmas Corridor Dance, was held to honor the boys leaving for the service in January. The Senior play, Thr Late Chrirtopher Bran, was presented in january. VVith our stage- struck but talented classmates as the cast, the play proved to be a hit. Now, as the days slip by, we realize that we shall soon be graduates. VVe stand on the threshold of a new, strange life. Our paths may not cross again, but the instruction and guidance received here will serve as an impetus toward our success. 14
