juretnuria . .. Many years ago in England when knights were bold, there was a society called The Knights ofthe Golden Shield. Each knight in this organization was presented with a shining shield after a valorous deedg and as the years passed, each time that the knight performed a noble deed or accomplished a venture of daring, a golden star appeared on his shield. So it was that the shield became a record of his life .... The 1941 Orifn! is like those shields, a culmination, recording the accomplishments of the 4'Knights of 19-H, so that not only fellow knights may know and remember our ventures but also that future generations may proht by our examples .... As our sojourn at East High is rapidly drawing to a close, we wish to express our appreciation to the faculty for their kind and considerate assistance in our many activities. Without their unfailing efforts we might have been lost along the way. . . . We, the knights of nineteen forty-one, offer this volume to our successors as a lasting token of our scholastic accomplishments and fraternal associations in East High .... May this Annual preserve pleasant memories of the past and serve as a reminder of the traditions and ideals of our school. May East High and its students cherish this book as those knights of old cherished their shields .... If in future years memories of the past are renewed and genuine enjoyment is received by this, the 1941 Orient, we shall feel that our purpose has been fuliilled. untents. .. ahministratinn 'E' the classes 'Q' ' antinities 73 'Q' atbletits
