WILLIAM C. WOLGAST Principal 'Ti.v education form: the common mind just as the twig is bent, so is thc trcc inclincdf' Mr. Wolgast has devoted his life to inclining the twigs of this generation so that they may develop into sturdy trees in later life. First, as an economics and social studies teacher, he sought to guide students in the right direction and to teach them the problems which arise when people live in groups so that they might more efliciently and wisely deal with their own problems after leaving school. Now, as principal of East High School, he contacts a much larger group of people, and he does as Hne a job in assisting and influencing the students and teachers as he did in conducting individual classes. Moderation is the keynote of Mr. Wolgast's policy. He is not the first to cast aside the old nor yet the last to assume the new as evidenced many times in his attitude toward stu- dent activities. We, the Class of 1941, have spent our three years in the Main Building under the hrst three years of Mr. Wolgast's administration, and thus our successful and enjoyable high school career has been due in no small part to the willing and wise guidance of Mr. Wolgast. For his assistance and support of our activities we are grateful, and We shall long associate our happy East High days with Mr. Wolgast. 7
