Marginian, Vyrerherg, Houck Warding, Moyer JANUARY 1935 CLASS HISTORY On a dark and stormy day four years ago some 150 blushing innocent youngsters entered the squeaking doors of Arnold Bowerman Swift’s shack—sometimes known as the East High Annex—and prepared to continue their “education.” Ah—and what an education that was! Those balmy days when we sat by the window and watched Rochester’s “finest” at No, 3 Precinct sitting with their feet jangling through the windows “protecting the taxpayers’ property.” And who can ever forget those “delightful” occasions when “Abie” Swift had us warm the chairs outside his office—and sometimes he “warmed” us! But soon that fleeting year was gone, and after tearing up our Latin books, we al! walked over to the main building. Here we found some new menaces, John Vyverberg, Eurt Wolff, and countless other “gentlemen and scholars.” We also got acquainted with a certain John Merrill who, growing very fond of some of us, used to keep us for seventh period because he could not part with our company. But that was not all! Left to their own devices for a year, the class’s scrawny “kid-sisters” blossomed out into dazzling specimens of female pulchritude, and soon our so-called he-men got goose pimples over such dainty damsels as Helen Coates, Betty “Mae West” Houck, Ruth Moyer, Harriet Lang, and—you know the rest! We loafed, laughed, “loved,” and tried to pass Regents Exams. Finally, however, the time drew nigh when our high school daze would end. And although we did take life rather lightly, there was many a sigh when w e finally received our diplomas. Deep down somewhere inside there’s a little spot in our heart just fur old E. H. S., and as we continue on our journey many may hope that— “While others come and others go We might stay on forever I” —Harvey A. Wolff JANUARY CLASS ADVISORS Paul Reichel, Gladys Ralco j JANUARY STANDARD REARERS Walter Harding, Florence Linhos
