To watch t lie chariot sun Burst forth in all its glory. After the summit we’d won. With spirits as blithe as the springtime. And hopes set ever so high. We climbed the hills to Mount Knowledge, From its apex t In wonder t o spy. Long was the way and arduous. Rocky the narrow ledge: Many there were who faltered, A few who clung to the edge. At last, after pauses four for rest. We topped the aged mountain's crest. It juts from a brow that is high and serene. And the silver has softened the brown; It shadows an eye that is kindly and keen. With wrinkles of laughter all 'round. Oh, we throb with delight when a-siniling he's seen, And “tremble with fear at his frown. We’re flattered to have him remember our names. We glow when he praises our work. Entrust to him all our ambitions and aims. No shams in his presence can lurk; But the fondest impression our mem’ry retains Is that whimsical, quizzical quirk.
