ORIENT Class Poem Once, 'midst the silent passing on of years, Time paused To find the earth, vibrant with hope and tensely gayg For night, brooding in mystic shapes of shadows dim, Stood trembling on the threshold of a dawning dayg Watched as the first faint spark of reawakening strength Brought to the ear the murmur of Life's steady Way, Rich in its dreams of hope and chance in bright array. A new day dawned, was lived, and slowly passed away. And now We, too, pause on an unmarked threshold here, Twixt High School days, thronged with tried friends an dear, And all that lies ahead for us unlived in years VVhen opportunity and life draw swiftly near. We feel the strength of power, throbbing in our veins: The World seems fair and goodly rich to our young eye: And our ambition craves a share forithee, East High. A new day dawns and livesg and so we say good-bye. 16 d memories
