Fine AI'l'S- Visual, Vocal, Instrumental Departments By group instruction and individual projects, the teachers of the fine arts department strive to develop the musical and artistic talents of each student. Art courses offered at East range from introduction to art, a cross section of basic techniques, to commercial art, an advanced study of art used in the business world. Throughout the year, students exhibit their works in East's halls, in city and in state ex- hibitions. Classes also visit Kansas University to study art work of college students. East's music groups perform for intermediate schools and various city organizations, as well as for student body assemblies. Orchestra con- certs are enjoyed by the public at evening per- formances, and band music provides half- time entertainment and accompanies cheering at football and basketball games. Highlights of the year consisted of the band trip to Manhatten, Kansas, and the choir trip to Dallas, Texas.
