Foreign Language- Communicating To Understand Acquiring the ability to understand, speak, Auer Mary Lou B.S. read, and write a foreign language is the goal Sophomore Class, French Club of East's French, German, Latin, and Spanish students. Because of more extensive travel in the world, and increasing opportunities in careers requiring knowledge of foreign lan- guage, today's students realize a growing need fs., to know a second language. For these reasons, emphasis now is being placed on the con- versational rather than the literary aspects of the language. Three speech laboratories pro- vide listening and oral practice for the entire class simultaneously.
