Eight subjects, varying from basic math to advanced courses in calculus and analytics, are offered to meet the needs of industrial students as well as of those who are college bound. Modern math, a system instituted this year in all courses except plane-solid geometry, raises the learning level of each math course. Since the system uses the discovery approach, each student learns for himself the principles accepted in former math systems. A new vocabulary involving the language of sets, and a new teaching method unify East's math courses. This revised teaching technique illustrates the math departme-nt's efforts to keep abreast with developments in, its field.
