SENIOR CLASS HISTORY F OUR years ago the class of '23 gathered together for the first time and organized-a thing that had heretofore never been IQ done by a freshmen class. The officers elected were Lloyd Cornwall, president, Grace Anderson, vice-president, Virgil Hockett, secretary, Vernon Porter, treasurer, Ray Fancher, ser- geant-at-arms g Virginia Kniseley, reporter, and James lVIcCune, yell leader. During this year a class party and an assembly were given. The sophomore year opened with a Weiner roast shortly after which a masquerade party followed. Then for one night the high school was turned into a country fair while the famed Kountry Karnival was in full blast. Officers for this year were Vernon Porter, president, Ruth Lester, vice-president, Aurel Troup, secretary, Arch Paup, treasurer, Don Buechel, sergeant-at-arms, Gertrude Fraser, reporter, and Roy Schumacher, yell leader. The following year the officers were John Shepherd, president, Louise Kelly, vice-president, Gwendolyn Graham, secretary, Roy Schumacher, treasurer, Fred Osborne, sergeant-at-arms, and James McCune, yell leader. One of the first things given was the Junior Entertainment. In the spring the annual junior-senior party was held. This took the form of a Japanese party. In the next year the seniors made merry at a regular old-fash- ioned Christmas party. Instead of the customary Freak day, a successful Impersonation day was held April 6. A senior banquet was planned for the last week in lVIay. As for athletics, the class has been well represented in all the different branches throughout the entire four years. The boys won the interclass basketball title twice and the girls won it three times. The girls also succeeded in winning the interclass volleyball title three times. - In the junior year the Junior Dramatic Club gave four plays, Mystery, A Bunch of Roses, Mr. X. , and A Pair of Fraudsf' In the senior year the club gave Trust Emily, The Big Idea, and the class play, Come Out of the Kitchen. AS a fitting end to the four years of school caps and gowns were adopted for graduation, ,thus helping to accomplish their desire to be the most friendly and democratic class ever graduated from W.
