O C 15' DEDICA TIO OUR FRIE D: COACH BUCK HARRI Mr. Virland Harris, better known as COACH BUCK Harris, has been teaching at East for thirty years, This means he has been here for about half his life! We are richer for his choosing to stay with us. Coach Harris attended High School in Harvey, Illinois. After he graduated he attended Missouri Valley College and Loyola University. He began his teaching career in l950 as a Biology teacher. But because of his outstanding coaching abilities and the need for Math instructors he has never taught Biology. He excelled especially in coaching football and brought three championship seasons to East in l954, l955, and l97 7. His life record is 4 7-32- 7. Over the years he has hehwed at least thirty students go to college and use their athletic abilities. Mr. Harris is a Mason, a Shriner and a professional Polish Person. Sound educational planning depends upon a variety of counseling services. Our school is Lucinda Britton Carol Allegrucci Mr. Cozeene Triplett added a new dimension to this years counseling staff. His time was split between Ashland Jr. High and East. This gave a continuity to our counseling program and helped 8th graders move smoothly into the senior high setting. 6 fortunate in having an outstanding and exper- ienced staff at every level. Not only do our counselors help us plan our programs they are also available to listen to our personal problems. Career Guidance, testing, special interest sessions and field trips are but a few of the services provided by this hard working staff. At these meetings students get information about financial aid, collage and military programs plus career planning. Rarely to these hard working ladies get the recognition they deserve, for it is their efficiency and expertise that keeps the paper flowing smoothly and East High up to date. Many of these young people have been together in school for six years and longer. This was their final tribute. We held almost every passing category. We completed 54 passes out of 97 attempts. We didn't win alot of games, but we were in all of them.
