Practical, Marketable Skills Typing, accounting and stenography were the three business courses offered to students this year. Not too many changes were made this year except there was no problem with the typewriters not working because the repairman visited the school every two weeks. Quite a few more students enrolled in these classes. Typing teacher, Mrs. McKanna says, Typ- ing is a practical, marketable skill, and I believe that it should be re- quired. Accounting students learned the basics on how to keep records, finan- cial statements and prepare taxes for businesses and personal use. Dictation, punctuation, spelling and transcription were just a few of the secretarial practices taught to stenography students.
