Miss Frances Houser's art students made piniatas and other art products for sale for the art department. They also tried to sell plants. However, the tur- nout wasn't very good, In Mr. Jim Ryon's art classes many students enjoyed going out- doors to do their work during the warm weather. The advanced art students drew up a design for the drafting class. and Student Council bookstore. They got credit for the designing and painting of it. An arts and crafts course was added to the art department this year, taught by Miss Gloria Zmolek. Students worked with leather, pottery or macrame. In Mr. Tom Mall0t's photography classes, the first year students learned the basics of photography by using the oatmeal box camera They learned the parts of the camera about lighting and the taking and making of pictures During Christmas the students made Christmas cards out f negatives and some visited the Plaza at night to take slides The reason for Valentine Por trait pictures was to supplement funds The school district paid for only paper chemicals and film All other equipment was purchased by money making proJects
