AIIUN Dedication - well, that's what the sign says. Perhaps I should intro- duce myself. I am the spirit of East High School. I haven't been christened any particular name as yet, but, nameless as I am, I am still known to every boy or girl who has ever been in East High. But to get to the business at hand. I have been chosen to dedicate this 1953 Eastonian. It is not as easy as you may think, to find something to which to dedicate this great big book. I thought perhaps I could dedi- cate it to our principal, Mr. C. O. Wil- liams. That would make a nice, reserved, little essay, and I could write -about all the nice things that Mr. Williams does for the school, but the book has been dedicated to him in past years and there isn't much left to say about that subject. And then, I could write a nice flowery oration on dedicating the book to some of our American principles Cno re- lation to Mr. Williamsll such as Freedom of the Press, the Golden Rule, Free Edu- cation, or any other high ideal by which we try to live. But you can read that sort of literature in the magazines or news- papers any day of the week, and I rather wanted to make this dedication a little different . . . Cto be continuedl

uf ABOVE Something new in the way oi photogra- phy was experienced by Paul Childs and Iim Peeler, members of the '53 Eastonian Stall. Leaning from the window of a gliding plane, they snapped the bird's eye view of our school. The new wing to be undertaken this summer will make the campus picture com- plete. Designed to balance the South wing. it will add a swimming pool, a girls' gym, and several much needed classrooms to the pres- ent building. I gr aff' .7 ov.. . ,H-- tif' . RIGHT A thrilling sight in the soft morning light is the regular flag raising pageant. All around the campus the students stand at attention while East High's R.O.T.C. boys raise Old Glory to her position at the top ol our flag pole. 4 l va ff 5' 151451 'B Hn t f l .3 E 4 4 A . . rr rx' ' . ,. fl PSS:
