Mary E. Caffey Miss Caffey, as Assistant Principal of East, has taken on her responsibilities with determination and discern- ment. A former East High graduate and faculty mem- ber, and the present foreign language superintendent for city schools, Miss Caffey has assumed the addi- tional assignment of dealing with faculty and curric- ulum at East. She has demonstrated her varied abili- ties in administration by becoming familiar with the needs of teachers and students, and by coordinating such activities as publications and commencement. Vi e Prin ipal LaMar W. Sorensen In the performance of his duties as Vice-Principal, Mr. Sorensen comes into direct contact with a large part of the student body, and in a variety of circum- stances. As supervisor of the Boosters and the Board of Control, as chief administrator of activities Cdances, games, rallies, partiesj, and as advisor to individual students with their large and small problems - he has come to be viewed as superman', to many people. But this is not what Mr. Sorensen is at allg if anything characterized him, it is his deep understanding of and dedication to education and youth, and these are pos- sibly the most human qualities of all.

Dear Ecider: You have had an opportunity during your years at East to achieve a degree of maturing by learn- ing how to manage your life and how to control better your emotions. You have been challenged to learn the difficult lesson of how you relate to others and, at the same time, how best to develop your skills, knowledge, and rational Prim ipal ability. WVhile you have attended East High School, you have encountered many tests that have given you an opportunity to evaluate your ability and personal maturity. My hope is that you are becoming sufliciently prepared to pass the more difficult tests you must face. joseph W. Richards Principal
