The unheralded work they do is ex- tremely important. Managers this year were Bill Hunter, Bob Earl, Bill Sadler, George Mang, Jim VVard, and Stanley Richards. Iltick 041.1414 Mick Oswald must be complimented on his consistently fine work of coaching. The A football, B basketball, baseball, and tennis teams which he directs are always among the finest in the state. His 'ABM foot- ball and A basketball teams reflect the excellent job of coaching he does. Hman lJaleA Iman Hales is well-known as an able, com- petent coach. The following week the Leopards traveled to Provo to trample over the strong and highly respected Bull- dog team, 18-O. The results of these two pre-season games made East a favorite in the newly formed Big Nine. In their first league game of the year the Leopards met Jordan on East,s muddy Held, to fall before the powerful Beetdiggers, 13-7. Hardly having recovered from this blow, the Leopards again fell before a snappy McKinley High team from Hawaii, 7-0, in a close. hard fought battle at the University of Utah stadium. The succeeding week, however, East came back to defeat the Carbon Dinosaurs by a score of 13 to 6. The next four games saw East take two defeats but also gain two more decisive victories. In the first of these games, East defeated the Granite Farmers, 25-O. Home- coming saw the Leopards playing host to West High. On a snow-covered field, in what was probably the hardest battle of the year, the Panthers finally scored to win the game, 6-O. East was defeated again in the next game by Ogden by a score of 6-O. I ' last game, Coach Cswald's players exhibited offensive strength that surpassed v' performances to win from South, 13-0, and finished in fourth place. 30 r- tanding in the backfield were George Bean, Ray Ericson, Rod Parkin, and n is. Harold Brooks Don Kamerath Sixty-one South's speedy back is hit hard by Sandy Morris, while Cal Clark f35j and Gordon lfifoolley f20,l come to aia' him. ?ovt6all As far as football is concerned, East can look forward to a rosy future. With the rein- forcing strength which the Bw team players bring, future varsity squads should be very strong. The BM team hung up a spotless record this year. They won every game and finished on top of the league. The team and Coach Harold Johnson should certainly be congratu- lated on their fine work. Among the outstanding players of a championship team were Glen Nielsen, Judd Nielsen, Blaine Barnes, Harlow Pickett, and Tom Jensen. W e f Tom makes a mastev ul speech of prerentation.
