ERTURE In an age of harsh discord, the members of the Eastonian staff have chosen for 1958 a musical theme - a continuous pattern of rhythmic melodies expressing the variety of our school activities. First, we shall introduce to you our conductors and the members of the symphony. You will hear, individually, the strings, the woodwinds, the brass, and the percussion after which the various sections of the orchestra will join in concert. It will be a broad, sweeping concert - a combination of the contrasting melodies and rhythms reflected in our lives at East. It will range from the conscious dignity of classical music to the relaxed ease of rock and roll. Now we invite you to enjoy the East High Pops presented by the Eastonian staff of 1958.

Conductor Without a conductor, an orchestra cannot be a unified whole. Here at East High School we have many maestros who strive untiringly, day after day, to bring forth from their musi- cians perfectly balanced, harmonious performances. As the house lights dim and our conductors step into the spotlight, there is a burst of appreciative applause for those who, seemingly miraculously, draw music from an orchestra composed of unskilled musicians.
