A formal concert was given during the Winter and as the last hit of the year the orchestra presented a new idea in concerts-a upopn concert with fine music and refresh- ments, too. Through this series of concerts the orchestra Was able to take its long-awaited-for trip. The string ensemble composed of five members made over thirty appearances throughout the city and provided the entertainment at conventions, Scottish Rite, Commu- nity Chest, U. M. A 'zpopw concert was held in November and lighter- than-usual music Was presented to the bigger-than-usual crowd. Junior contestants gaze in admiration as Bruce Weatherby blows the biggest bubble at the Grey- I1 o u n d campaign assembly. Spfzecwl Wee? The Greyhound staff members had a busy year. To- gether with editing the paperg they sponsored dances after the Central-East basketball game and the Senior Class play. Members also wrote for the Teen Page of the Duluth Herald and the Talk of the Teens page of the Womanis Home Companion. The Greyhound subscription campaign took an unusual form in a contest between the male and the female students to determine which sex Was superior. It ended in a tie, but in view of 4'male superiority it was declared '6Boy,s Day and the girls were their slaves for the day. Greyhound was awarded first class honor rating by the N. S. P. A. last year, and the staff was aspiring for an All- American rating this year. 32
