Zmwf' To raise money for a trip in the spring, the band sponsored it's annual tournament-time pot luck supper. Mr. Vickers introduced a new school song, called the East Swing Songi' to the delight of the student body. Directing the year's activities were the band officers, Warren Gustafson, president, Herb Hess, Vice-presi- dentg Karan Thrana, secretary, and Jeff Davis, treas- urer. 'Emu Zona' man Qfcydb Spam: A little Wind, a little practice, a little patience, and before you knew it, the Seventh Grade Band pro- gressed from elementary exercises to regular marches and band numbers. Strange sounds soon turned into real music. The Seventh Grade Band, under the direction of lVIr. Tainio, played for assemblies, the Seventh Grade party, the Music-Festival and Orientation Day. The Eighth Grade Band, in their colorful red and White uniforms, provided the music at some of the seventh grade assemblies. Entertaining the P. T. A. and appearing at the Music-Festival were other activities of Mr. Tainio's Eighth Grade Band. - At the head of the Junior High is the Ninth Grade Band. lt provides the school songs at all our Junior High basketball games and pep assemblies. This year for the first time, the ninth graders marched during half-time at the lust-Denfeld football game. Mr. Vickers directs the Ninth Grade Band.
