O O Karl Goerz, East's assistant principal, starts out his busy school day by taking charge of the attendance and absence reports. He also serves as a counselor with parents and stud- ents concerning problems of discipline. Among his other services to the school, Mr. Goerz is the advisor of the Junior High Student Council and arranges social activities and seating charts for the school assemblies. In the spring he helps with the caps and gowns for graduation. Mr. Goerz is president of the Arrowhead Principals' Association in our district. J. Howard Alaspa, Counselor m74e7 Karl' Goerz, Assistant Principal Where shall I go to college? What shall I major in? Our counselor, Howard Alaspa, has the answers to these and other questions that may be asked of him as he plays his role of guidance counselor at East. Mr. Alaspa assists the students with their problems and helps them in their education and vocational plans. Beginning in the fall, he is in charge of the supervision and administration of the school testing program. He also plans home- room guidance activities. During the year he serves as co-adviser of the Senior High Student Council and takes an active part in the Various research projects of the school. The end of the school year brings all of the seniors to Mr. Alaspa for personal interviews concerning their future plans.
