0:4-z05' ' T. W. Mitchell, Principal Our iifth annual commencement was held in J une, 1955, and we are proud of our graduat- ing class. As our school grows, so grows our city. Our objectives are training for citizenship and training for vocation. Schools are providing a much greater variety of learning experiences for students. They are training all the pupils and are mindful of the fact that all students can master the simple intel- lectual propositions necessary for working on a job, taking care of the personal business, answer- ing key questions about personal values and in voting on matters of policy aifecting their own lives. In short, we are asking that all high school students be educated as well as trained and parents are being prepared to accept no less from the schools. School life oiiers many opportunities to every student for personal development in leader- ship training. It gives rich experiences in areas of debate, speech, dramatics, athletics and music. It offers many opportunities for growth in leadershipg especially growth in behaviour patterns. Students' achievements in scholarship and extra-curricular participation are controlled very much by one's own planning. Limitations are placed on those who are unable to achieve in academic areas. Today's school requires the student to perform in academic areas. It, further- more, gives growth experiences in personality development by encouraging participation in extra- curricular activities. 8
