Our Record--1959 The Yellowjackets, led by co-captains John Giaimo and Terry Holcombe, had one of the finest seasons in East Haven history with a 7-1-1 record. After losing and tying the opening games to class A schools, Coach Crisafi’s boys maintained a perfect record of 7-0 in league play to win the Housatonic Championship. The rags to riches season was crowned with a gratifying hard fought victory over arch rival Branford. At the annual football banquet the Easties received the CIAC trophy, recognizing the team as one of the best in the state. In post-season awards, Jerry Iannotti, Bobo Nazzaro, Terry Holcombe, and Tom Gagliardi were elected to the All-Housatonic Team. Iannotti and Holcombe were also selected for All-State honors. The team voted Louie Monaco recipient of the Savitt Sportsmanship Award. Led by Captain Sal Paolillo and sparked by four seniors, Jim Piscitelli, Terry Holcombe, Bill Devine, and Joe Fleece, they entered the CIAC Class B tournament. The season ended with East Haven the triumphant State Champs for the fourth time in seven years. The state championship represented a phenomenal victory as two undefeated teams were overpowered by East Haven in their leap to victory. Junior Varsity Team--lst ROW (L.-R.) S. Altrue, J. Walsh, H.
