OUR RECORD--1958 The Yellowjackets had one of the finest gridiron records in the history of East Haven as they won nine games and lost one. Coach Crisafi's boys had one of the best defensive and most explosive offensive units in the state. The defense held the opposition to 36 points while the offense scored 322 points for ten games, The defensive unit was spearheaded by seniors such as Almori, Paulsen, Lang, and Bagnoli. The offense was lead by Letis, Salvati, Virgulto, and Pite. James Salvati and Michael Letis were named Register Players of the Week for their outstanding play against West Haven and Shelton. At the Annual Football Banquet, the Easties received the C.l.A.C. Trophy, recognizing the team as one of the most powerful in the state and the 1958 team honored Michael Letis, Regio Almori and Vincent Vir- gulto by naming them tri-captains. llJimmyIl llMikeIl East Haven 26 West Haven 6 East Haven 28 Stonington 0 East Haven 28 Shelton O East Haven 24 Derby 0 East Haven 28 Woodrow Wilson 0 East Haven 6 Lyman Hall 0 East Haven 48 Seymour 12 East Haven 48 North Haven 12 East Haven 20 Cheshire 0 East Haven 6 Branford 13 -no- -.-- -x -N. Baseball 1959 The Easties of 1959 will seek to retain the CIAC and Housatonic Championships which were won in 1958 with a team composed mainly of 59ers. The big guns in the hitting department will be Nick De- Malo, Vin Virgulto, Jim Salvati, Bill Pite, Mike Letis, and Harry Paulsen. The mound chores will be divided between John Waselik and Larry Hall, If these boys can retain the timely hitting and clutch pitching which lcd them to such a successful 1958, there is little doubt that 1959 will be another sue- cessful season.
