Freshman Hand Book, Senior Class aminations, Legion Auxilary, United Nations Examination. .S'0L'li4Z STUDIES ln a democracy every student has a responsibility to the successful operation ot his government. Our Social Studies Department prepares us to meet this responsibility through a combination of its many social studies courses. The organization ot and problems of our local govern- ment were revealed to us in freshman ciyics class. During our sophomore and senior years we prepared ourselves to become full-fledged politicians for Youth-in-Government Day. Other courses contributing to an understanding of our part in our democracy and in our world social and political society were Modern History which informed us of life in European and Asiatic countries, Problems of Democracy in which we became aware ot our national government func- tions and Consumer Problems which gave us an insight into current economic conditions. As we look upon our social studies courses, we know that because ot our study of them, we have gained a better understanding of the functions ot our government, our American heritage, and the place ofthe United States in our world political organization.
