LANGFORD Superintendent To members of the Class of 1955: There are many indications which predict that our expanding, thriving nation will offer all of you challenging opportunities for purposeful and rewarding service in many vocational fields. Thousands of doc- tors, nurses, clergyrnen, teachers, scientists, engineers, business trainees, skilled crafts- men and technicians, and loyal, capable citizens in numerous other occupations will be needed to further the progress of a vital and vigilant democracy. It is my hopeful prayer that each one of you will select a career wisely and that you will advance in it successfully, through a happy and a peaceful future. Sincerely yours, John A. Langford Superintendent of Schools Q M V .., .-5 BOARD OF EDUCATION. Secretary, Mrs. Mary Conroy, Chairman, Mr. John Langford, l 1 , E To members of the Class of 1955: You, who are the first class to graduate from the new high school, have had the benefit of increased facilities and of addi- tions to the curriculum made possible by the spaciousness of this magnificent structure. But even more important are the fine ethical principles which have formed the basis of the training received in every classroom throughout your four years at East Hartford High. Remember these lessons and be vigi- lant against the forces of materialism which seek to ensnare today's young people. Keep faith with your moral convictions and you shall be successful in claiming the promises of the future. Let us hear often of your progress. Our interest never wanes.
