THE CRIMSON Student Cjounczl HIS year has found the Student Councll In energetnc and resourceful organ17at1on It has solyed certam student problems and brought other needs to the attentxon of the admxnlstratlon Not only representatnes but also other members of the student body haye partlclpated rn the work of the Councxl throughout the year One of the first undertakmgs of the Student Councnl was the Cloak Room probl m T hrs was a bxg questxon and one that had to be solyed xmmedlately Credxt IS due to Curace Catamo for the many hours she deyoted to the development of the schedule A Socxal Calendar was next drawn up so there would be no conflxctmg of socxal eyents A plan was undertaken early 1n the year to buxld an Honor Roll It was constructed by students of the school and dedxcated 1n an xmpressxve ceremonv The Councll took the lead IH conductmg the Chxldren s Clothlng Crusade the gatherlng of old clothes and shoes for the needy chlldxen IH parts of the United States They contrlbuted to the fund whxch axded ln paylng the expenses of Marlan Spungm w ho represented us ln the Jumor 'Iown meetlng of the Arr The Councll helped advance the Idea that students play an actlye part tn putting on assemblxes The Student Councll feels that the contmuance of the custom they encouraged of haymg Class leas wxll help foster good feelxng among the parents faculty and student body They salute the Senxors on thelr successful first Class Tea The Soclal Commlttee drew up a program for welcommg nncommg students whnch we trust made people at home when they Were entermg our school llfe They also proynded a plan whereby vnsltmg representatxves athletlc and otherwxse would be entertalned nn th future Outstandmg ln the work of the Student Covncll was the deyelopment ofa fourteen pomt plan of student suggestxons regardlng varied school actnvltxes and programs From thxs ex pressxon of student thought has developed the followmg group the length of the School Day Commxttee the Recreatxon Center Commxttee and the Gym Commlttee The final re sults of the efforts of these groups are not known at the present trme A new amendment to the COUSIIIUIIOU proyldes that class presidents automatncally be come members of the Councxl Vyle hope that the progress shown by the Student Council each succeedmg semester wlll be mamtamed and furthered nn the future 36 ' 1 1 1 1 'e e , . . v1 1 1 1 1 11 1 1 1 ' ' ' r 1 1 1 v1 1 1 1 1 . v 11 r 1 11 1 1 1 1 1 . e .
