Dear Ruth Dear Ruth. the senior class play, will go down in the annals of East Greenville as an unfor- gettable production. The audience will long remember the beautiful scenery, the exciting plot, and the superb acting displayed by the cast. The cast, under the skillful direction of Mr. D. E. Carmody was outstanding for its accurate portrayal of the various characters. The story concerns a young girl, Miriam, a prodigy, who carried on a correspondence with an overseas soldier, Lt. William Seacrott. In these letters Miriam uses her elder sister's name and photograph. Ruth, the elder sister, was of course pursued by Bill upon his return. Bill is unaware of Ruth's engagement to a local banker, Albert Kummer. The climax was reached through or series of hilarious complications and plot twists upsetting completely the estab- lished household of Iudge Harry Wilkins and his wife Edith. Dora, the Wilkins colored maid, Martha, Bill's sister, Sgt. Chuck Vincent, Bill's friend, and Harold Klobbermeyer comprised the supporting roles. The success of Dear Ruth, was the result ot the co-operation of the entire Senior Class in act- ing, painting scenery, managing, and gathering of the numerous properties and costumes which are essential parts in any play. Growing Pains Our Iunior Play, Growing Pains, was presented on April 29 and 30 of last year to two capacity audiences in the Grand Theatre. This was the first lunior Play in the history of E. G. H. S. to be presented two nights. Under the very capable direction of Mrs. Myrtle Groome of the high school faculty, the cast of eighteen boys and girls gave an excellent performance, and the play was acclaimed a success by all who saw it. The plot revolves around Professor and Mrs. Maclntyre and their two teen-age children, George and Terry. George falls deeply in love with Prudence Darling, a new girl in the neighbor- hood. Prudence is merely Hstringing George along, a tact which he, of course, cannot see, and when she drops him, he falls with a tremendous thud. Terry, who is just getting over her tomboy days and can't seem to realize that she must grow up sometime, has her hands full when she discovers that Prudence is trying to vamp her childhood sweetheart, Brian Stan- ley. In the escapades that follow there is much hilarity and many enjoyable moments for the audience. C H S 'I' George Mclntyre .,..... ................
