Senior Reports Richard McAndrews . . . First year football player, came out for team late due to National Guard duty, but worked hard to get in good condition. Played on the kicking teams and saw action at the defensive end. Good attitude. Well liked by his teammates. Scott Jones . . . One of the most improved players on the squad from last season. Worked hard in the off-season. Developed into a fine receiver. Good hands and pass cuts. Improved his blocking ability from last year. Injuries cut short his playing time. Henderson Wallace . . . A co-captain. Played quarterback on offense and played in the defensive secondary at the L'Cat and Buz positions. Three years letterman in football. Excellent speed - threw touchdown passes his senior season. Chuck Blanton . . . Saw action as a lineman this season. Worked hard in the off-season with the weights to improve himself. Excellent attitude - well liked by his teammates and coaches. Jon Speas . . . Greatly improved football player from last year. Used in a number of positions this year which contributed greatly to the team. Good pair of hands in catching the football. Very dedicated athlete who worked hard to improve his abilities. Respected by coaches and teammates. Kirk Beatty . . . Very dedicated performer who made the most of his abilities. Was probably the most consistent offensive lineman on the squad. Fine hustler, very flexible person and athlete. Very popular among his teammates. Set a fine example by action as an athlete. Bobby Russell . . . Used in a number of positions on the squad. Became a starting tackle on offense. Very strong with excellent speed for a big man. Very tough performer. Worked hard in the off-season to improve his athletic ability. Tim Cloninger . . . Greatly improved football player from last year. Starter at tight end and contributed in other places of the team. Excellent hands. Always gave 10006. Became a fine blocker this year and was perhaps the best downfield blocker on the squad. Respected by his teammates and coaches. Donald Jackson . . . A co-captain and three year letterman. Very strong. Played at linebacker and on the offensive line. Excellent athlete. Fine person who worked hard in the off-season. Made 43 individual tackles on defense for the season. Nathan Wriston . . . Very versatile athlete. Played defensive end, offensive tight end and split end, used in the kicking game. Had a great year at the defensive end position. One of the best defensive ballplayers in the conference. Excellent speed, quickness, and a fine pair of hands. Caught three T.D. passes for the season. Leon Shipp . . . Set East Gaston receiving record this year with 25 receptions. Leading tackler on the squat at linebacker and defensive Chief position. Big, strong receiver who can also run well after making the catch. Also used as a punter. Very popular with his teammates. Excellent quickness and a hard hitter, Three year letterman. Jeff Harris . . . Played football at East Gaston as a sophomore, then family moved last year. Came out late this year when he moved back to East Gaston. Worked hard to get in condition. Did a fine job as center on punting teams. Played at defensive tackle. Very likeable person. 44
