We hope the hours of labor we have put into this book will pay off in your enjoyment. Each stu- dent has individual memories of his days at East Gaston, but there are group memories shared by all - memories of faces, places, and events. These memories we have tried to capture in picture and print. Our days here are preparation for the future, building the future, but each day has been a vital part of our growing up. We express our thanks to the following groups and individuals who, though not on the staff, played an important role in the making of this book. Students and faculty members who purchased the book. Faculty members who cooperated with information, suggestions, and understanding of deadline demands. Our advertisers and patrons whose financial contributions enabled us to publish. Mrs. Cline and her students who assisted with typing and bookkeeping chores. Mr. Bob Thompson for a great deal of photographic work and many errands for the annual. Mr. Moody and Mr. Eldridge for assistance with art work. Tim McCall for a drawing. Mr. David Hutto, Ms. Dianne Ellis and the Gastonia Gazette for several photographs. Angie Gentry and Cindy Suddreth for allowing us to use their homes for picture-taking. Barbizon School of Modeling and Mr. John-Boy Isley for selecting the Beauties. Mr. Lewis and Mr. Lackey of Delmar Printing Company for their work. 224 f Farewell 1
