Vigor and Vitality | Service With a Smile | Sherry Triplett The hub of almost all spirit- minded activities of any school are its cheerleaders. To smile when the home team is losing is a hard job, but the East cheer- leaders have done so through the many victories as well as defeats. The mechanics of the cheers are sometimes difficult and the girls spend much time practicing. They are the gist of all pep rallies and most of the spirit boosting banners are painted and hung around campus by the bubbling young ladies in the blue and white uniforms. In any game, spectators must boost the team, and our cheerleaders do the job of boosting the spectators. However, this is sometimes a hard and thankless job. The Eagle cheer- leaders give of their time, talents, and spirit to make their team one to be proud of, for they are proud of it, and we are proud of them. JUNIOR VARSITY CHEERLEADERS Baby Eagle Spirit Boosters—J.V. Cheerleaders Merri Michael, Micki Parrish, Cindy Sawyer, Lynn Susan Michael, CHIEF Diane Young, Denise ! Musten LuAnn Beeson Payne Our Junior Varsity cheerleaders are the best from three schools and this is what makes them great. They aid in boosting school spirit, along with the varsity, and urge the J.V.’s on to victory. Although attendance at some of the games is small, the J.V. cheer- leaders are always there, cheering the Baby Eagles on to victory. Whether a win or loss, the J.V. cheerleaders emerge smiling, assured that their team has done its best. With the knowledge that they will someday become varsity, the junior varsity cheerleaders work their hardest to make East a school to be proud of ...and they do. Suzy Mowery 198
