Each summer students who are exceptionally gifted gather at Salem College to live for seven weeks. They attend ses- sions concerning their particular talent. Selected on the basis of scholarship, service, and character, Alex Brown and Eddie Hedgecock were nomi- nated for the Morehead Scholarship. Extremely high scorers on the National Merit Test taken in the junior year move into the finals. The semifinalists are Calvin McCuiston and Ernie Parker. Studying biology at Wake Forest this summer were Gayneil Highfill and Barry Dowell. At UNC in Cha- pel Hill Calvin McCuiston studied chemistry. POR 179
