East Eagles—Central 4-A Champs - Fs Rick Grubbs takes reservations for the buses to Burlington. 154 Basketball at East this year was an ideal in the minds of most of the students before the season really got under way. Everyone was looking forward to those Tuesday and Friday nights when they could show their loyalty to their school by just enjoying themselves. And to the players, the boys who sweated it out after school each day to earn a berth in the starting line-up, or even for a chance to play occasionally, basketball season presented an ideal to be achieved. They accepted this challenge with the determination to complete the task. As the season got under way, the Eagles began putting to use the winning combination they had mastered on the practice floor. Soon everyone began to see that the Eagles had what it takes to be number one, and soon they were. East became a familiar name on the top of the Central 4-A basketball ratings.
