From the ocean comes forth tumultuous currents, tides ebbing and flowing, waves rising and breaking and shores filled with tiny imprints of Life itself... From the earth rich in mineral value, comes the mighty oak, a tree towering above all others, wearing the effect of Time on its aging bark, changing cos- tumes with the seasons; yet through rain, sleet, snow, or sunshine, somehow it survives. From the natural ore, carbon, comes forth the dia- mond; a stone that when chiseled and crystallized to perfection becomes a very rare and precious min- eral, each facet radiating a brilliant array of argent sparkles. From a mound of clay comes forth Man, created in the image of God. God breathed Life into Man’s nostrils and Man became a living being. Mr. Carl Lewis Clarke In Man’s chest, God placed a heart. It beats to a crescendo to an unknown tune, written by an unknown composer. Man’s heart hoards a mysterious graveyard for Yesterday’s treasured memories, placing mon- uments where outstanding memories now lie motion- less. In Man’s head, God placed a brain—the nucleus of Man’s existence, his excuse for his failures or the motivating force of his accomplishments; a tiny struc- ture so tiny in stature yet so very complex in its inter- nal make-up, and priceless in its contribution to Man- kind. Through. the annals of Time there have been men that we will long remember, maybe because they are as challenging as the ocean, as staunch as the tradi- tional oak, or as rare and valuable as the precious dia- mond. East Forsyth has such a Man that we will long remember, for besides the preceding reasons... “He is a Man to match his mountains.”
