Just thirteen short years ago, a group of wide-eyed, scared five and six year olds be- gan their next years at E.F. with their first day of Kindergarten. This group of children was our Senior Class, the Class of 1987. Little did we know that that day would begin a series of friendships, among ourselves, and our teach- ers as well. Kindergarten began our school years with, even then, never a dull moment. The girls will fondly remember how Homer Harp enjoyed pulling up their skirts. This was also the year Katy wore panty hose to school “because her mother made her” and got laughed out of the room. First grade brought us much excitement with singing the “Candy Man” with everyone dressed as bon-bons, sugar bowls, and toot- sie rolls for our Spring Concert. Our class was also entertained this year as Eric Rourke screamed and quit every time he was out in a game of dodge ball in gym. We had many additions to our class this year. During January of our second year, the roof caved in on the elementary wing as a result of a snow pile-up. Luckily, school had been canceled that day. so no one was hurt. For the remainder of the year, we went to school at the United Methodist Church. John never came to school that year without his brief case of his painted rocks. Paula and Sherry were added to our class this year Third grade fascinated us as we finally were given homework Bobbi Gadley and Kelley always beat everyone out of the spell- ing bees. Missi Zug and Randy Claypoole joined our class. Also, we will never forget our fun games of 7UP . Four Corners”, and Who's Missing?”. The big thing that year was seeing who each person went into the closet with during “Who's Missing?”. Fourth grade brought changing classes with Mr. Furnish and Mr D. This was the year of our ever-famous gym show. We will never forget the electricity going out and Becky screaming very, very loud. This was also the year of track meets, in which we all placed in one category or another. The hot item this year which included John. Robb. Bill. Rich. CLASS HISTORY Kelley. Katy. and Jennie was playing Duck. Duck. Goose in Kelley’s yard. Fifth grade was the year we began to no- tice each other. This was the year Missi Kuhl joined our class. This was also the year pop- ping our mouths was popular, so popular those caught had to stand in the corner and pop until Mr. D. said to stop. Fifth grade also seemed to be our year of 100-word essays, lines, and constantly being told to be quiet. Consequently, we never listened and. of course, we paid the price. Sixth grade was the year we went to Pitts- burgh for our field trip, which was an experi- ence. It was also our year of relationships, relationships, and more relationships. After a while, there were so many break-ups and get-togethers, no one knew who was go- ing with whom. Alan seemed to have a good time in the field. Dale seemed to have a good time going out for a pass . We all seemed to have a good time being sent out to the hall because that’s where we spent the majority of the year. Seventh grade was the year we were con- sidered the sludge of the high school side. Steve was added to our class that year. John entertained us this year by turning on the gas in the lab and getting caught by the VAV . Also, this was the year of the fiasco between the cheerleaders and Mrs. Balog, something we will never forget. Eighth grade was the year our special friends. Jennie Shaffer. Marcella Ekis. and Sam Ekis. left our class. This was the year of our ever-famous end-of-school party, in which we were introduced to the pleasures of Spin the Bottle. We gained John and Amy Saxon in eighth grade. We were also petrified of Donna Crawford after she threatened to rip Mark to shreds in Miss Seman's class. In our freshman year, we participated at History Day in Clarion. A few of us went on to Hershey. Ninth grade was also the year we took chances—especially on the last day of school. Most of us somehow seemed to dis- appear and reappear. Unfortunately, some of us were caught before we were able to reap- pear. English class was a major riot that year as we practically drove Miss Siviy out of her mind. Sorry. Miss Siviy! Our sophomore year was a year for vic- tories. Our class won Spirit Week and came in first place for our homeroom decorations of Honor America Week. Our room was dec- orated with records hanging from the ceiling and with a stage set up in the back of the room. The play. The Uninvited, was per- formed with the major roles played by mem- bers of our class. The play was memorable as things happened that were not supposed to during the performance. We seemed to be fascinated with trees this year. Robb was so fascinated, he fell asleep right in the middle of one of Mr. Hritz’s biology classes. Also, this year another member of our class moved. Donna Crawford. Eleventh grade was a fun-filled year. It was the year of tuna-fish in Becky’s locker, the year of a bomb threat, and the year everyone got one hour of sleep on Halloween night. Also, we were all impressed by Mark’s Pee- Wee Herman impressions. This year, we tied the Seniors for first place overall during Hon- or America Week. Our prom was Carousel” in which the gym was decorated in white, light blue, and pink. The addition to our class this year was Lorena. as two classmates left. Steve Turner and Missy Fyock. It was a spe- cial year for most of us. for our relationships with one another grew stronger. Twelfth grade—Seniors at last! This year has flown by very quickly. With this year has come many more memories, such as Amy’s ability at ripping open locked doors. Lorena and Debbie’s private phone in the lobby, and our class’s ability to come and go as we please during lunch. But our high school years are now drawing to a close. Graduation is now upon us and we realize that we will not have each other to rely on for much longer. We have shared many joys and sorrows throughout the past thirteen years. We. the Class of 1987. would like to wish the under- classmen best of luck and happiness for the future, in hopes that their years will be as memorable as ours. Seniors 5
