TABLE of CONTENTS SENIORS M UNDERCLASSMEN M2 ELEMENTARY 55 ADMINISTRATION 61 SPORTS 72 ACTIVITIES 99 MEMORIAM 112 ADVERTISEMENTS 117 a journey's end” This year’s Marien theme is A Journey's End. But just remember that with every journey's end, in the future lies a new journey's beginning. But still for us is the need to remember, and within these pages the story of our journey will be told. . . . And here begins a journey, a story as old as time. The tale of the dream and the dreamer, a reflection of that spirit that lives within us all. And here begins a journey, a journey into ourselves. We are never alone on this journey, we have friends who are making this same journey to keep us company. We have guides who have made this journey before us and who are willing to help us find our way. On this journey we strive to find our strengths. On this journey we also search for the future. We try to discover our goal in life and what God expects of us. On this journey we have made friends for life. Some we must leave behind in our quest for the future. Others will accompany us in our struggle for success. And most im- portantly, on this journey we have accumulated memories . . . memories that will last a lifetime. 2 sjoiuag V T e s i d Q n t SaglttaAluA VlcXo . Mazzocchl 12-6-63 . . . Vic, U'op . . . Aj U) oX ry 'J-tn ° y CoYt $ $U -ftfcM OUR JOURNEY Our journey began nearly thirteen years ago as we left the protection of our mothers' hands and entered a whole new dimension - kindergarten. All of us tried desperately to impress Mrs. W. with our talents, especially Chris S. who was constantly drawing on the back of his chair. The biggest thrill that we had was the privilege of carrying milk from the cafeteria. In first grade, we were introduced to Jack, Jane, and Tip. Second grade brought us the love note craze and new romances sprung up right and left. Tammi K. lost her stomach, which is vividly remembered by Kim 0. and her skirt! In third grade, Dina's encounter with a pen left her with a mouth full of ink. Robin kept us entertained in fourth grade with her Woody Woodpecker laughs and her tons of bubblegum! We were blessed by the arrival of Penny, our first dizzy blonde. The entire class stood in the hall one day for talking. Our fifth-grade year gave us many fond memories, especially for Chris, who won himself a match with Big Bertha for just one little white lie; for Penny, who decided to stick a pencil compass through her finger; and for Mari, who was thrown out into the hall one day by Mr. D., desk and all! During a field trip to Salmon Creek, Mike found out that it was difficult to dive with his glasses on. We were finally the Kings of the Elementary in the sixth grade. None of us were ready to take any abuse, including Richard who had constant run-ins with Mr. F. Tammi and Rhonda had to stand in the hall because they screamed when Rhoda and Mari turned up their eyelids. Anthony managed to put a nail through his head. We will always remember our trip to Sea World. The Kings suddenly became Low Life Scum in seventh grade. We were constantly used and abused by those high school bullies. It took us awhile to become accustomed to changing classes. We went to Drake's Well on our field trip. Our other dizzy blonde, Chris G., came to our class at the beginning of eighth grade. She and John Smrek took an instant liking to each other, and Chris solved the problem by slamming his fingers in her locker! Victor's true skills came shining through as he demonstrated how to shatter a ceiling light with one squirt of water! A few of us followed Vic's example and showed off our science skills - the result was a red-smoking mixture which smelled so bad that Donna threw the whole beaker out the window before our student teacher returned! Freshmen - we felt so important. Jacy and Leonard joined our class. This was a very memorable year, especially for Penny, Donna, Dina, Tammi, and Jacy, who all had a strange fascin- ation for senior guys. Robin also had quite a fascination - for the sidelines at Tidioute! Once again, Victor demonstrated his lab skills, which earned us a two-month lecture on the history of astronomy. Jeff, for some reason, thought that school began at 9 O'clock. Tammy E. and Dion were the new kids in tenth grade. Some of our guys started to attend Vo-Tech, so we could only harrass Monkey for three periods. John S. created some original geometry proofs about Mrs. N. which cost him a day of suspension. Chris G. took morning naps in Miss Siviy's literature class. The highlight of our junior year was the Prom. We had so much fun decorating and we can still hear Mr. K. telling us that we're approximately an hour and four minutes behind schedule! Rosemary and Leonard were intrigued by red lights, while the rest of us were amazed by Jacy's voice. Tammy E. was the envy of the Typing I class, turning out 60 words per minute. Penny and Chris G. were the best of friends, while Mari had a last day confrontation with an egg. 37 Seniors at last! Our journey was quickly approaching its end, but there were still some memories to be made before the road ended. There was yearbook soliciting and our last class dance, senior pictures, and the last girls' basketball season for our Superstars. The baseball team's playoff game victory was a thrill that many of us will always cherish, especially our Champs. Carol taught us the real definition of quiet, while Russ proved how tough he was in P.O.D. Miles took weekly vacations and sometimes we forgot what he looked like! Donna left for college in January. A definite highlight of our year was Honor America Week and its festivities. We proved that seniors really are 1 as we won first place in the patriotic competi- tion. This last year revealed to us the true meaning of friendship as our class seemed to grow closer as a whole. We look forward to our final school memories which will end our journey - our senior trip, the Prom, and the ultimate, graduation. Our journey has given us many memories and taught us countless lessons. We will never forget all of the jokes and smiles, the fights and tears, or the friendships. Most of all, we will never forget our class - the CLASS OF 1982 . . . 39 1981 KING and QUEEN John Rini, King Laura Flechsig, Queen F6R US” The romantic era of the late 1800's was re-created as the Class of '82 presented A Time for Us , the annual Junior-Senior Prom, on May 15, 1981. Guests were welcomed oy an array of pastel-colored streamers which blanketed the gymnasium's ceiling. At opposite ends of the floor stood a gazebo and an arbor, both of which were laced with roses. A sundial, symbolizing the theme, decorated the center. Various silhouettes and silk flowers adorned the scene. Musical entertainment was provided by Joker . Laura Flechsig and John Rini were crowned as the 1981 Prom Queen and King. Clare Bauer and John Ekis were named first runners up, while Doreen Greer and Doug Roberts were selected second. The king and queen were crowned by last, year's King Jeff Lane, and the first runner up Joni Smrek. The Class of '82 deserves to be commended for providing an enjoy- able evening for all who attended. Joni, Johnny, Clare, John, Laura, Doug, Doreen, and Jeff. KIMMEL, JR. Se.p£embeSi. 16, 1934 - July 5, It Couldn't Be Done 19S1 Somebody said that it couldn't be done, But he with a chuckle replied That maybe it couldn't, but he would be one Who wouldn't say so till he'd tried. So he buckled right in with the trace of a grin On his face. If he worried he hid it. He started to sing as he tackled the thing That couldn't be done, and he did it. Somebody scoffed: Oh, you'll never do that; At least no one ever has done it ; But he took of his coat and he took of his hat, And the first thing we knew he'd begun it. With a lift of his chin and a bit of a grin. Without any doubting or quiddit, He started to sing as he tackled the thing That couldn't be done, and he did it. There are thousands to tell you it cannot be done, There are thousands to prophesy failure; There are thousands to point out to you, one by one, The dangers that wait to assail you. But just buckle in with a bit of a grin, Just take off your coat and go to it; Just start to sing as you tackle the thing That cannot be done, and you'll do it. Edgar A. Guest 112 SENIOR FRRELJELL In years to come when we look back to undergraduate day's at E.F.H.S. we'll remember, along with our routine classes, fun times and serious moments, the impact of the forces that molded our lives and directed our destinies. In retrospect, many of the incidents and events were of much trivia; others will take on the magnitude of mileposts of the good old days; all of them will be a part of us. Here, then, for better of for worse, this book has been a flashback to our years at E.F.H.S. During the past years, many things came into our lives. We experienced them. These things will always be a part of us. And so the twelve jam-packed years have slipped by us, and now we must face the future and take our place among the hundreds of other E.F.H.S. alumni. College, earning a living, marriage—whatever our plans-the future promises to be challenging and interesting. As the Class of 82 says farewell, we can look back on our life at senior high and truthfully say; Yes, the best years of our life were spent here. RH 113 WHO COULD FORGET Iran crisis ... IT WILL DETERMINE WHERE YOU WILL SPEND ETERNITY 1. Realize and Acknowledge: all have sinned and come short of the glory of God, Romans 3:23 Yes, you too have fallen short of heaven because of your sin. You may be better than many others, but compared to Jesus there is none that doeth good, Romans 3:12 2. Realize and Acknowledge: the wages of sin is death, Romans 6:23 There are two kinds of death. One we inherited from Adam and the other we earn for ourselves. Adam's sin brought phsical death to all. Also, because of our sin, we must die a second death eternally in Hell, unless we find a way to pay for our sin and thereby remove its penalty. Revelation 21:8 3. Realize and Acknowledge: Christ died for our sins, I Corinthians 15:3 Jesus paid the entire price for you by his death on the cross. A Holy and just God set the price on sin, and then in love, paid it Himself. A. Realize and Acknowledge: the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ, Romans 6:23 He bought it. He owns it. He freely gives it. We are not saved by believing a story about a has been. Christ is alive today! knowing that Christ being raised from the dead dieth no more, death hath no more dominion over him, Romans 6:9 He has power and victory over death and sin and offers the same to you as a gift, not a reward. 5. Realize and Acknowledge: Whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved, Romans 10:13 This is a promise. Whosoever means you. Not.. .whosoever is a church member, or is baptized, or is confirmed, or takes commusion, or dies the best he can, but whosoever shall call on Jesus. Where you spend eternity depends on you. God wants you saved today. Redclyffe Baptist Church Standing for the fundamentals of the faith. Four miles South of Marienville on Route 899 Pastor Terry L. Cumberland 123 1 £72 27?
