These are the qualities which we feel Mrs. Izzi has displayed to us. She has spent long hours working with us to make every page look just right. Although, there have been many hassles and tense moments, we came to realize her true concern was with us. She has given her best, not just because she is a teacher, but because she is a person...our friend. For these reasons, we would like to dedicate our 1975 Marien to Mrs. Susan Izzi because her caring has helped us to better understand and recognize The Language of Friendship. _________________________________________________________________________ J For Jim No words of praise in prose or poem Could quite express our love For Jim, who's gone to his abode In heaven's land above. Although he went so suddenly And we still question why, And though we who loved him dearly Did not get to say, Good-bye ; He's being spared much earthly strife. But still our hearts are grieved For Jizzle gave much more to life Than he, himself, received. Fond mem'ry has a golden lock Each one of us may keep; Death has not been victorious For Jim is just asleeo. And somewhere beyond the sunset Where life's harsh problems cease, God holds the keys to Memory And Jizzle is at peace. Wanda C. Hilyer James A. It is also the laughter shared among people. . . among friends. Through the last twelve years as a class it is the laughter that has gotten us by, brought us closer, and made us a class. As we go our separate ways, we'll remember many things. But it's the laughter we will remember, whenever we remem- ber . . . the way we were. YEARBOOK - NEWSPAPER STAFF The Journalism Class, under the direction of Mrs. Susan Izzi, publishes a bi-monthly newspaper and produces the yearbook.. Much hard work and co-operation blend together to make these two projects a success. Many students work hours to make a page look just right. On October 24 and 25 East Forest Drama Club, under the direction of Miss Susan Siviy, presented the play, Bull in a China Shop. The play was written by C. B. Gilford and produced by special arrange- ment with Baker's Plays of Boston. The main setting represents an old-fashioned parlor at 909 Sycamore Street, a boarding house for ancient females. The old maids have a problem. How do they get the attention of the handsome bachelor, Detective Dennis O'Finn of homicide? The ladies come up with the logical answer—murder. It speaks for them, plans activities for them, and helps them enjoy their school life more. This year, Student Council, under the direction of Mrs. Roberts, had a very successful year. Through co-operation of the student body, faculty, and administration, many projects were completed. The Council's main project this year was the annual, semi—formal Christmas Dance held at the M.A.C.A. Building. Holiday assemblies, a 50's hop, selling popcorn, and elections in May were other activities. Peggy stands with friends in traditional sari costume. On June 23, 1974, after much preparation and many shots, Peggy Jo Guthrie left for England, Italy, and India, with thirty other young people and seven chaperones. One of the beautiful sites she saw was the Taj Mahal, and the most pitiful sites were the under- nourished' people of India. The most pleasant part of the trip was living at the Mount Hermon School in the Hymalaian Mountains. She went to school there and met students foom India, Thailand Aus- tralia, New Zeland, and other countries in Asia. The group had work projects, such as planting trees, painting a cabin, and mak- ing stone steps. Peggy hopes to return to India in the future. ■ 92 The group from western Pennsylvania.
