p ■I ■ RtfiftC '2IIIVIIH Dedication We, the class of 1971, dedicate our yearbook to Mr. John Hepinger. Since your arrival here four years ago, we have known you in several capacities. For some of us, you were our homeroom teacher. For others you were our instructor in chemistry, biology, general science and physics. For all of us, you have been a great friend. Although we will always appreciate you for the many things you have taught us, we will best remember you for the guidance you have given us in learning respect: respect for knowledge; respect for authority and respect for our fellow man. Your unfaltering sense of humor always helped us keep our outlook on life in the right perspective. As basketball Coach, and as advisor to our student council, we have seen an example of great dedication. We are assured that when we look back to our high school days, you will always be at the top of our enjoyable memories. The entire class of 1971 joins in this dedication, and we all say, Thanks,DocI Mr. John Smrek High School Principal East Forest Joint High School SCHOOL BOARD Seated: Carl Stoltenburg (Rec. Sec.), Paul Carter (Vice-Pres.), Del Amsler (Pres.), Glenn Shaffer. Standing: Hugh Millin, Karl Seiffert (County Supt.), James Smith. Absent: Leland Parks, James Frost, Robert Kinnear. Congratulations to the Class of 1971. Most of you should honor graduation with a sense of pride and accomplishment but should also be cautious that learning is a continuous process. Your willingness to continue to learn will determine how successful you and society will be. Travel to the planets, heart transplants, and many other current feats were physical impossibi 1ities during my high school years. Our generation however, has made fantastic gains in recent years and has made the seemingly impossible feat a reality. You are graduating at a time when mankind threatens to eliminate his home by creating weapons of unbelieveable potential and by often ignoring environmental and ecological problems. Our decaying morals and standards seem to be a threat to the family. I hope that the knowledge you have received at East Forest has prepared you to meet your responsibilities in being good leaders; and followers. Society needs you to help promote a more positive direction toward solutions to the international problems threatening mankind. I hope you will dedicate yourselves to meet this challenge. Best wishes and good luck. FACULTY John E. Hepinger B.S. In Memoriam Mrs. Elitabeto Ball Choral Director we didn't even nave a chance to say good-bye. good-byes are always strange, words are said that were never meant and some that are meant are never said, anyway-- you're gone now. we think of you often, each of us with our own private thoughts. you were so many things to so many people. your face usually meant a smile. your presence meant someone who would listen to our troubles. we will each remember you, a part of our life-- missing now, but always present in our memories. did we ever say thank you?
